BAUC in Tuscany is the continuation of BAUC. BAUC = Breitner Amsterdam under construction, is a series about urban temporary. The archiving and documenting of contemporary construction views in the centre of Amsterdam. I always paint the same spots from the centre, see on the map upstairs.
Now I would like to paint these constructions views from the memory. What will happen on the canvas when I do not live there (Amsterdam), and I'm not running stressed from appointment to appointment, hampered by congestion, buildingmadness and chaos. From a distance these construction views, the tightness and distress of the city of Amsterdam become almost something good. How do this relates with the Tuscan plain, space, sun, calm nature. Which elements will enter my imaginary landscape? Will I still paint construction views but now in the mountains, or will the stay in a big empyt landscape? This research is my start of a year in which I will research how painting will develop in Tuscany; to paint something that I know well but far is, in combination with something that is close but still unknown.
BAUC in Tuscany, I'm looking forward to it!
The canvas Vrijbloed is the last BAUC canvas that I painted in Amsterdam.
