My series:

Kantij

KANTIJ

[2009 - heden]

In KANTIJ onderzoek ik wat ik zie, beleef en ervaar van de (zachte) mentale ruimte. Ik kijk door een kanten sluier, op zoek naar scherpe contouren.

Incanto

INCANTO

[2008 - 2009]

Incanto means magic, enchantment, a series about our enchanting current time, the current space, about the amazing magic of the NOW.

Breitner

BAUC (BREITNER - Amsterdam Under Construction)

[2004 - 2008]

In this series, I want to immortalize with paint the temporary nature of the public space of Amsterdam. A fascination I share with Breitner part.

VVDS

VVDS (Via Val Di Sole)

[2001 - 2003]

Via Val di Sole is the address of my native house in Italy. In this series I explore the visual effect between the memory (the past) and perception (the present).

Statement

Painting is life, living is painting!

My ambition as an artist is a clear individual process. My work decomposes life panoramas of my past, present and future. I painted about, with and on time. My perception of reality, abstraction versus figuration, color versus drawing, theme versus energy makes my work now to what it is. Everything in life is energy, each with its own color!

Colors that tremble

I strive after a poetic balance between abstraction and figuration, color and shape, foreground and background. I use color and shape without denying a figurative painting style.

The canvas is for me an imaginary space. A timeless place that relies on memory and desire. With a layering which refers to the past and the present. The use of color is for me the most important aspect in painting. I choose combinations of colors that are contrasting and harmonious as well. I make tremble color combination. With a vibration as a perceptible whisper between past and present.

Painting Technique

II paint with a own developed mixed technique.

II start to paint a fluorescent layer of the past (acrylic). Abow I draw a sketch of my present (charcoal, graphite, Wasco, felt-tip pens, etc.). Then I paint each day the last layers with oil colors, only a part of the foreground.

At first the oil colors seem all gray, because of the contrast with the fluorescent background. I go through until that point, whiere I find a balance between foreground and background.

All paintings are made with a mixed technique on canvas.
